GOTTMAN BASED
COUPLES COUNSELLING

How do you do couple counselling?

Are you preparing to start a family?

Is your relationship changing or being challenged?

Is your developed family starting to pull in opposite directions?

Are you having "out law" "In law" dynamics?

Is this the natural time in your life where various identities are forming? – or storming!

How do you create strong families that can respectfully communicate and have each individual needs met?

Our sessions can help you to create the home you want – a home supported by values, meaning and respect.

Our evidence-based approach includes Family Systems, EMDR, Emotion-Focused, and Gottman Techniques.

The process I follow is evidence based practices:

First session: I meet with both partners

Second session:I meet with one partner

Third session: Imeet with the other partner

Fourth session: we will meet with both of you and provide our professional, clinical recommendation

While this may feel like it takes longer, research finds that the success rates for couples who follow this process are much higher. Allowing each partner the freedom, space, and time in couples counselling to develop therapist rapport, feel heard, provide privacy and explore dynamics leads to more positive outcomes.

Please note: if you are working with an individual therapist before you start couples counselling we believe that ethically it's a conflict of interest to have the same therapist provide couple work; instead one of our amazing team members will be happy to provide the couple counselling!

CHRISTIAN
COUPLES COUNSELLING

Farah Kurji is grateful to be able to offer Christian Couple's Counselling and offer space for couples who self identify as Christians, to engage in professional counselling interweaving:

  • A biblical perspective

  • Christian resources

  • Faith exploration

  • God centered marriages

The process for counselling is similar as above, and follows the Gottman process.
